Most anticipated games of 2018

Every year people get very excited as the more exciting and intriguing titles are announced. Alongside the sequels to obvious big games such as Call of Duty and Battlefield, there are also some titles that simply grab everyone and build excitement to fever pitch.

Highly Anticipated Games of 2018

Let’s take a look at some of the most anticipated games of 2018.

Dragon Ball Fighter Z

This game surprised many people when it was announced, and to be honest, it doesn’t initially feel like it belonged on this list. But it did.

Dragon Ball Fighter Z was so massively anticipated for one reason really. The game features some of the most gorgeous artwork ever. In this way it sticks to the original comic book mentality and approach. It’s anime at it’s finest, and brought to the video game screen. Beautiful, and rightly celebrated.

Yakuza 6: The Song Of Life

Yakuza as a series has had a rough ride. There have been seemingly hundreds of the games made, and in 2018 it finally looks like the series is beginning to get the praise it deserves. The Song of Life will not mess with the formula in any way other than making the hero a father figure (and a grandfather).

The one thing that is interesting about the series is the complexity. The games have become deeper, and layered in emotion. The family story in Yakuza 6 seems to be pushing it towards a very emotional conclusion.

Far Cry 5

This series has certainly had a patchy few years. Reaching its peak with Far Cry 3, the series has been accused of needless violence and (possibly worse) boring gameplay. This one looks like it could well be the best ever, with a plot involving secret cults and messiah-like characters.

It’s all going to end in rivers of blood and gore of course, but why else do people play Far Cry games?

Anthem

If you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know nothing about this game. The rest of us know only a little. One of the most hotly anticipated games of the last few years, Anthem could well be the next Destiny when it comes to hype. Everyone who’s anyone in the world of gaming is talking about this.

Players have characters that can fly due to the special suits that they wear. The graphics are incredible (from what the world has seen so far) and on top of all that it’s made by BioWare. These guys are getting better and better at making games that stop you in your tracks. Expect beautiful graphics, and very rich gameplay.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Now here's one for all old school arcade fans to get excited about. Back in the day, Castlevania was rightly seen as one of the most exciting side-scrolling arcade games ever. It became very famous and even had its own comic book. It was great fun and it had just the right level of difficulty to make it worth playing again and again.

This isn’t Castlevania, but it's coming from one of the producers of the Castlevania games. It has the same nightmarish feel to it, and there’s a gothic look that Castlevania fans will soon start obsessing over.

Sentinels: Aegis Rim

This game looks fantastic. The concept is intriguing. Basically, huge Mechas roam the streets in 1980. Yes, that’s right, they live in a 1980 setting. Don't let that fool you. There are no shortcuts on the visuals, and you have a title that simply drips atmosphere. A beautiful game, and one that has a rich and deep story.

Crackdown 3

Long-awaited, and at one point rumoured to be the launch game for the XBox One, this game has plenty of expectation on its shoulders. However, the game keeps getting pushed back too, so players are understandably chomping at the bit. There is a hope that 2018 will see a release, but it could go either way here.

It’s completely open world, and has some gorgeous graphics attached to it. The troubled genesis of this game only serves to make players even more excited.

Metro Exodus

Another long-awaited game, and this one has form, too. It looks like it’s going to build upon the incredibly atmospheric world of Metro. That game didn't set the world on fire, but it certainly creeped people out, and the new title looks set to build even more on that success.

The release date keeps getting pushed back, and there are hopes for a late 2018 release. If this is true, expect everyone to get rather excited.

Red Dead Redemption 2

One of the most eagerly awaited games of all time, not just in 2018, this is coming on the back of huge success for the first Red game. Expect massive marketing and right at the heart of it all, a beautiful game that has millions of loyal fans.
